What is green hydrogen?

Green hydrogen is hydrogen produced by splitting water through electrolysis using renewable electricity, resulting in near-zero carbon emissions. It differs from grey hydrogen (made from natural gas) and blue hydrogen (natural gas with carbon capture). Because renewable power is the largest cost component of green hydrogen, low-cost solar and wind — like Gujarat’s — is the key to competitive production.
